Frequently Asked Questions

1. What exactly is a drone roof inspection?

A drone roof inspection involves using a high-resolution drone camera to capture detailed images and video of your roof from all angles — safely, quickly, and without ladders or scaffolding. It’s ideal for spotting damage, blocked gutters, slipped tiles, and general wear and tear.

2. How much does a drone roof inspection cost?

Prices start from £120 for a photo-only package and from £190 for photo and video. A full report with annotated photos and recommendations is also available. Larger or more complex roofs may cost a bit more — we’ll always confirm the price before flying.

3. Are you qualified and insured?

Yes. We are fully certified by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and commercially insured. We also bring years of experience from the professional broadcast industry.

4. Is it legal to fly drones over private properties in the UK?

Absolutely — as long as it’s done by a licensed, insured operator following CAA guidelines. That’s exactly what we do. We’ll always assess the site first to ensure a safe, legal flight path. Some locations — like near airports, prisons, or military sites — may have flight restrictions.

5. Will I need to be home during the inspection?

No, not unless you want to be. As long as we have safe access to your property (front drive, garden, etc.), we can carry out the inspection and send the report to you digitally.

6. What do I get after the inspection?

You’ll receive high-quality aerial images and/or video of your roof, plus (if requested) a clear PDF report highlighting defects, wear, and maintenance issues — ideal for passing to a roofer, insurer, or estate agent.

7. How long does the inspection take?

Most inspections take 30–60 minutes on-site. Reports are typically delivered within 24–48 hours after the visit.

8. Can you inspect gutters, chimneys, and flat roofs too?

Yes. We capture close-up detail of gutters, chimneys, flashing, skylights, and flat roof sections. If it’s visible from the air, we’ll get it in sharp detail.

9. What areas do you cover?

We’re based in Daventry and serve Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. If you’re outside this area, drop us a message — we may still be able to help.

10. Can I use this inspection for insurance claims?
Yes. Our high-resolution images and optional PDF report are ideal for documenting storm damage, leaks, or wear — and can be shared with insurers or roofers as evidence.

11.What if the weather’s bad on the day?

If it's too windy, raining, or foggy, we'll reschedule at no extra cost. Safety and image quality come first — we won’t waste your time (or ours) on a poor shoot.

12. Will the drone damage my property or disturb neighbours?
Nope. Our drones are small, safe, and flown with precision by licensed pilots. We operate within CAA noise and privacy regulations — and we’re respectful of neighbours’ space.

13. Do you offer thermal imaging or moisture detection?
At the moment, we offer visual inspections only. Thermal imaging is on our radar — let us know if you're interested, and we’ll notify you when it's available.

14. How high do you fly, and how close can you get to the roof?
We typically fly at 10–30 metres altitude, and can zoom in or get close to inspect tiles, flashing, moss, and joints — no ladders, no boots on roof required.

15. Is drone inspection better than a roofer’s quote visit?
We’re not here to replace roofers — just to give you unbiased evidence. Many roofers choose to use footage before quoting, especially for hard-to-reach or fragile roofs.
